About Marimbus Espresso

Origin: Brazil

Varietal: Catuai and Topazio

Process: Pulped Natural

This coffee comes from Fazenda Progresso in the Bahia region of Brazil. The Borré family has owned the farm since 1984 and began to focus on specialty coffee in 2005.

What we learnt when we visited the Borré family is that when they decide to commit to something, they do it to the highest possible standard! From the start, they consulted with experts and invested in infrastruc- ture that enables them to control quality, from planting right through to export.

Coffee covers 700 hectares of the farm, and grows 1,150 metres above sea level. This coffee was grown on a small plot of land called São José.

At harvest time, the cherries are hand-picked, and processed using the pulped natural method: the skin and fruit are removed and the sticky, parchment-covered beans are dried on patios.
